April Maybee Dellas, founder and owner of
CTC, began her career
in equitation at the age of ten (10). Trained early in her career
in upstate New York by well-known instructor/trainer Roger Young,
April successfully competed as a Hunter/Jumper. She has won
numerous awards and ribbons in competition and showed horses for
over twenty-seven (27) years.
Tremendously
versatile and talented, April showed and competed in three other
disciplines: Saddle Seat, Western and Driving. During this period
she was sponsored to show five (5) and three (3) gaited Saddlebreds, Morgans and Arabians owned by Colonel and Mrs. John
Morrison of Palm Beach.
April's
interest in Dressage began in 1974 when she first rode for and
became the student of the famous Hungarian born equestrian,
Charles de Kunffy. Under his instruction, she gained insight and
understanding of the theory that is the foundation of
horsemanship. She effectively applied the theory to competition
where she successfully competed up to Intermediare II. She
continues her long association with Mr. de Kunffy and closely
follows the principles and philosophies of dressage as taught by
him. Known for her excellent communication skills, she is able to
convey the subtleties of this very special form of equitation to
students at all levels.
Although
competition had its own rewards in April's long career, today
April's "Blue Ribbon" and greatest joy is seeing and
championing the advancement and success of her students.
